Pray incessantly
In this
weeks Gospel reading (Luke 8: 1-8) Jesus tells a parable about our need to pray
always and to not loose heart. A story about a corrupt self-consumed trumplike
judge who neither fears God nor respects anyone other than himself; and a poor
widow crying out for justice. I wonder what preconceptions about prayer we
bring to this reading and how they shape what we read? I wonder what
preconceptions about God we bring to this reading and how they shape what we
read?
Some
questions to reflect on:
- When we pray unceasingly what is it we pray for? Our selves? Our neighbours? For justice? Are we praying unceasingly for those without justice?
- Do we see God at work bringing justice through our actions?
- How does our unceasing prayer change us?
