Who are you? - A Question for Advent



Who are you? The question posed to John in our gospel reading. A question for us in Advent. The eternal question. Who are we? For us it comes with two other questions –“Who is God”, and “what is ours to do?”
Jan Schnell Rippentrop[1] suggests that John offers three different answers to that question:
- “I am not….”
- This scripture will tell you something about what I do:
- If you want to really know what I’m about, you’d have to know that I do this:
As we reflect on what brings joy to God this advent, do these three questions help us claim our identity as witnesses to the Christ?

"Just Enjoy The Coffee"

A group of graduates, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life. Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups - porcelain ,plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite, telling them to help themselves to the coffee.
